1 of 2 teens dies after shooting outside basketball field house in Fishers

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — A teenager has died after a shooting outside a basketball field house in Fishers.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office says 17-year-old Thomas Pearson Jr. has died.

Pearson and another 17-year-old boy were shot just before 10 p.m. outside Best Choice Fieldhouse, 11825 Technology Drive. The basketball court venue is near the 116th Street/State Road 37 interchange at I-69.

Police said Pearson and another 17-year-old were getting into a car when they were shot. They were alert and speaking as they were taken to a hospital, but police said Friday that Pearson’s condition worsened.

Police said the initial investigation shows the shooting was a “targeted attack.”

The Fishers Police Department is looking for two male suspects who left the area in a brown, older-model Toyota Camry.

No other information has been released.

Anyone with information was asked to call Detective LaShawn Tyler at 317-595-3313.

A spokesperson for Best Choice Fieldhouse released this statement on behalf of the facility:

“The incident that occurred in the parking lot of Best Choice Fieldhouse yesterday evening is tragic, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families. Fishers Police Department has indicated this was a targeted attack and there is no current threat to the community. We will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement.
