Woman, 24, arrested in death of business owner, 78, shot outside Hardee’s restaurant
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 24-year-old woman was arrested Sunday in the death of a 78-year-old business owner who was shot Friday in front of a Hardee’s on the east side.
Kayla Blankenship on Sunday remained in the Marion County Jail on a preliminary charge of murder, online court records show. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make a final charging decision in the case.
Paul Edmonds was found shot on Friday night in the parking lot of a Hardee’s restaurant in the 5900 block of Brookville Road.
Edmonds was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition on Friday night and died Saturday, Indianapolis Metropolitan police said.
According to police, Edmonds owned Diamond Stamp & Coin, located at 34th Street and Shadeland Avenue.
No additional information about the circumstances of the shooting was immediately released by police.
