Dick Wolfsie hits the ice in bumper cars in Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ind. (WISH) — Each and every week Dick Wolfsie shares a story that is unique to central Indiana.
This week Dick went to Frankfort to check out a new winter wonder — bumper cars on ice!
“We are excited to present the Main Street Skate, which is a synthetic ice that we are going to do some bumper car rides on,” said Kim Stevens, with Frankfort Main Street.

Frankfort Main Street is a nonprofit organization that works with downtown businesses and organizations to revitalize, recruit and retain businesses in downtown Frankfort.
Stevens says you would have to travel all the way to Nashville, Tenn. for the closest thing that compares to the bumper cars on ice in Frankfort.
The bumper cars slide better when they are on ice, Stevens says.
“And you have a little less control, so that makes it even more fun,” said Stevens.

Currently, six bumper cars can get on the small ice rink in downtown Frankfort. Stevens says the rink could be expanded up to 2,400 square feet. If the city decides to make it bigger, then 10 cars could be on at once.
So what kind of skill do you need if you want to get in a bumper car on ice?
“No experience required, no certain ability to do it. Anyone can ride them,” said Cassie Simpson.
If you’re interested in checking out the unique bumper cars, you can check them out starting Thursday, Jan. 16 from 6-8 p.m. in downtown Frankfort.
