Family of mother shot and killed while driving wants answers
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Charlese Zinnerman should have spent the past weekend celebrating her 23rd birthday, instead her family and friends gathered near the spot where she was shot and killed last month.
Zinnerman was shot while she was driving near 10th Street and Belleview Place on September 21, 2016. Her daughter, who was 5 at the time, was in the backseat of the car.
“She saw it all. She saw her mother get shot in the head and her mother hit cars and died right in front of her,” Zinnerman’s mom, Tamu Coleman said.
It has been tough for Coleman and her granddaughter to process.
“It’s a lot, you know, it hurts me. It hurts to see my granddaughter going through this, she talks about her mother all the time, she misses her mother, she knows her mother’s gone and she knows she’s not gonna see her mother in full spirit anymore,” Coleman said.
“It hurts, it hurts, you know that I can’t drive down the street without my granddaughter worried if somebody’s gonna shoot in the car, you know, she’s worried to death, and it’s not right.”
Coleman has posted flyers with Zinnerman’s face all over the city, hoping someone will come forward with information about who shot her.
“I want justice. Whoever shot Charlese needs to be caught, they need to serve they’re time. If you know something, you need to speak up,” she said.
Detectives on her case said they are still following leads. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
