Family of victim seeks new information in Indianapolis murder case

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis family is speaking out in hopes of finding who was behind the murder of their loved one. It happened nearly two years ago in Fountain Square.

Randall Patrick was 47 years old when he was shot and killed inside his parent’s Bates Street home on April 15, 2017.

It was a complete shock to his family and they want to know who is responsible.

“When my dad called me that morning and said the house is a crime scene and they’ve killed your brother. At first, the one thing I thought was he was out on his bike and he got hit. You know, I could have accepted that, but this? I don’t have anything,” Ronald Patrick, Randall Patrick’s brother, said.

According to police, three men broke into the home just before 4 a.m. that day.

“Nothing was stolen,” Patrick said.

He describes his brother Randall as a hard worker and a family man, with no criminal record other than some speeding tickets.

“A big kid. He loved to cut up. He was just silly and he doted on my grandson,” Patrick said.

He said the men fired at Randall with a shotgun before his mother came out of a bedroom to confront the men. That’s when one of the men hit her and they ran out of the home.

“So why? What would be the reason you know and if this was revenge or anything else, for what?”

Patrick said police told the family the murder looked like an organized hit, but who could be behind it?

“I want justice for my brother, I really do. Who did this and why did they do it?” Ronald said.

No arrests have ever been made in the case. Leaving the Patrick family wondering where the investigation stands and if anyone will be held responsible.

“Why haven’t you made an arrest? Why haven’t you done something?” Patrick said.

IMPD said while there is not any new information to release to the public, this is still an open investigation.

Of course, if you saw anything suspicious in the area of Bates Street and State Avenue on the night of April 15, 2017, you’re asked to call police at 317-262-8477.
