Family reacts as IMPD seeks suspect in homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The niece of a man shot and killed outside of his apartment is relieved that police have zeroed in on a suspect.

On Tuesday, a warrant was issued for Jameel Muhammed. Police believe he shot and killed Patrick Wilson earlier in April.

It happened in the stairwell of the Pangea Parkwest Apartments off of 38th Street and Bennett Drive in Indianapolis.

Wilson had just been at the grocery store and was just a few steps from his front door.

Family members credit witnesses with helping identify a suspect.

“This will show my community, I say my community because I am Hispanic, that we shouldn’t be afraid to come up to speak to have a voice,” said Katlin Rafael, Wilson’s niece.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call investigators at 317-327-3390 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
