Firefighters battle large barn blaze on far southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis firefighters battled a large blaze at a far southeast side barn Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to the 6700 block of Mimosa Lane, near Acton Road and I-74, just before 6:15 a.m.

Video from Chopper 8 showed a large barn fully engulfed in flames.

Eight horses escaped without injury, but chickens, ducks and rabbits died in the fire, according to the Indianapolis Fire Department.
