Fishers unveils new logo: ‘No better time than now’
FISHERS, Ind (WISH) – As Fishers continues to grow, the city has unveiled a logo it believes captures the past and future.
The new logo was designed by the city’s graphic artist.
“It’s a very clean look to it,” Fishers resident Anne Seidler said. “I like the clean type style, and I also like that fact it points out we were established in 1872.”
Twenty five years ago, Fishers population was about 7,000. In 2014, it jumped to about 85,000, and in 2040 the city expects 131,500 people will call it home.
The old logo featured the name and flag. The new logo sprays in symbolism throughout, although not everyone understood it.
“My first thought would be, it’s sort of environment and inclusive,” Seidler said.
“I get the symbolism of the crossroads,” Fishers resident Ron Ackerman said. “I didn’t get the openness of the R. I didn’t get that at all.”
The top represents the city’s flag. The line is a horizon for the future.
The “R” in Fishers is not closed, which shows the city’s openness. And the established date represents history.
“We really started working on this pretty strong after the first of the year,” Fishers public relations director Autumn Gasior said. “We knew this is something we wanted to do for a while, and just had to get some things out of the way so we could focus on this.”
It’ll cost $7,000 to decal trucks. But you won’t only see the logo on there.
“You’ll see it on our letterheads, envelopes, business cards; our website is due for a redo coming up this fall,” Gasior said. “You’ll see some changes there.”
It’s a new look for a place that has been through a number of changes. “You want to capture some of the past, but you want to focus on the future of it,” Ackerman said. “No better time than now.”
The logo will be changed on city vehicles throughout the summer. If you want to learn more about it, click here.
