Fort Wayne Police find fatal shooting victim in parked car
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead early Saturday morning.
According to 24-Hour New 8 sister station, WANE, officers on patrol reported hearing shots in the area of S. Anthony Blvd. and Colerick Street around 1:30 a.m.
Dispatch also received several calls from people in the area who heard the shots.
Officers found a parked car with a shattered window in the alley between S. Anthony Blvd., Lillie St., Colerick St. and E. Pontiac St.
According to FWPD Spokesperson Jason Anthony, there was an unresponsive victim in the vehicle that appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced the person dead at the scene.
Detectives spent hours speaking to people in the area. Anthony said at the point there is not suspect information or description to provide.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity, along with the cause and manner of death at a later time.
