Funeral scheduled for Indianapolis principal struck by bus
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Mourners are remembering an Indianapolis elementary school principal who was struck and killed by a school bus while pushing students to safety.
A visitation was held Friday at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Indianapolis for 69-year-old Susan Jordan, who served 22 years as principal of Amy Beverland Elementary School. A funeral will be held at the church Saturday. A private burial will be held at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, Kentucky.
Jordan died Tuesday after a school bus jumped the curb, fatally striking her and injuring two students. Police say an investigation is continuing to determine what caused the bus to lurch forward.
Gov. Mike Pence ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in Marion County in Jordan’s memory.
Classes at the school are scheduled to resume on Monday.
