TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Fuzzy Pants is heading to a loving home. The abused bunny received national attention after a viral Snapchat video showed three Florida teenagers abusing her.

Three girls ages 13 and 14 are facing animal cruelty charges in the case. The video allegedly shows them throwing the bunny against a wall several times.

The Florida Times-Union reported in late May that the Jacksonville-area girls giggled and laughed as the bunny smashed against the wall. The video shows one of the girls kick the bunny as it tries to escape.

After the video was posted, the girls were located Saturday by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and arrested.

The bunny was found at the home and taken to the local animal shelter. Fuzzy Pants then went to BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa. BluePearl said last week she was in stable condition but had suffered multiple fractures.

“BluePearl veterinarians on Friday performed surgery to remove the upper tip of the rabbit’s right hind femur, or thigh bone, where it had been broken. Fuzzy Pants also suffered two pelvic fractures, which are starting to heal,” staff said. “Fuzzy Pants has recovered nicely from surgery, and is eating voraciously.”

Dr. Scott Fowler said the bunny is friendly and loving. “I think she’s going to be perfectly fine,” Fowler said.

On Monday BluePearl announced Fuzzy Pants’s discharge from the hospital. She’s going “to a loving home,” the veterinary hospital’s staff said.

Jennifer Macbeth, of Southwest Florida House Rabbit Rescue, is going to be a foster parent for Fuzzy Pants.

“Now she gets a new beginning,” Macbeth said. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
