IMPD hoping to strengthen community ties
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Chief Troy Riggs took part in a community forum Thursday night, hoping to establish a stronger relationship between IMPD and the people they serve.
Chief Riggs set out a list of goals for making Indianapolis a safer community. Now his district commanders are spreading that message and they’ve targeted a specific group in the city’s six focus areas to make those goals a reality.
IMPD North District Commander Chris Bailey invited faith based groups from across the city’s high crime areas to a private meeting.
Pastor Orlando Jordan Junior was one of several who attended and discussed ideas on how to enhance the quality of life in rough neighborhoods, while also creating a trustworthy relationship between police and the public.
There were some specific ideas discussed during the faith based meeting on how to improve the quality of life in the focus areas.
