IMPD: suspect turns himself in after media and social media coverage

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a suspect in four robberies has turned himself in following media coverage and social media posts brought attention.

IMPD says that 31-year-old Richard Dowell of Indianapolis turned himself in Wednesday afternoon. Investigators say that Dowell is alleged to have robbed a Beech Grove Walgreens and three Indianapolis gas stations.

After turning himself in, Dowell was questioned and arrested.

Currently, Dowell faces one preliminary charge of robbery. Further charges are under review by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
