Indiana National Guard to house special forces unit

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A National Guard special forces unit now stationed in Chicago is moving to Indiana next year.

Indiana Adjutant General Guard Maj. Gen. Courtney Carr announced Wednesday that Company A, 2/20th Special Forces Group will be moving to Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh, about 30 miles southeast of Indianapolis, on Sept. 1, 2016.

Soldiers who meet the selection requirements and wish to join the unit can apply through their chain of command to attend the special forces readiness assessment.

The next assessment is scheduled for the fall of 2015 at Camp Atterbury. The unit will have approximately 90 personnel once fully manned.
