Joe Kernan labels Trump comments ‘disgraceful’
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A former Indiana governor is now saying that Donald Trump’s comments about members of the military are disgraceful.
Joe Kernan appears in a new ad from a SuperPAC that supports Hillary Clinton. The ad from Priorities USA is airing in 9 battleground states including Ohio.
In the ad Kernan takes issue with Donald Trump’s comments about Arizona Senator John McCain being a war hero only because he was captured.
“Donald Trump doesn’t understand the weight of sending Americans into harm’s way,” says Kernan. “He’s unfit to be President.”
Kernan appears as a former POW.
It’s part of the backlash that current Indiana Governor and Trump running mate Mike Pence faced in Nevada last night.
“Will there ever be a point in time when you’re able to look at Trump in the eye and tell him enough is enough?” asked the mother of a member of the military. “You have a son in the military. How do you tolerate his disrespect?” she asked while others in the crowd booed.
“That’s allright. That’s allright,” Pence responded. “Folks that what freedom looks like and that’s what freedom sounds like.”
And it all grows from the DNC speech where the Muslim parents of a soldier killed in Iraq challenged Trump prompting a controversial reaction.
“She had nothing to say,” Trump told ABC. “She probably, maybe, she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say.”
For Joe Kernan the response is a simple one.
“He’s unfit to be President.”
A spokesman for the Priorities USA PAC says that Joe Kernan is right and Trump is dangerous. Attempts to reach Kernan today were unsuccessful.
