Man riding motorcycle critically injured after hitting deer in Steuben County
FREMONT, Ind. (WISH) — A motorcyclist was critically injured after hitting a deer Friday night in Steuben County.
Indiana State Police said Saturday 44-year-old Jonathan Annis, of Montgomery, Michigan, hit the deer while riding a Harley Davidson southbound in the 7800 block of North Fremont Road at approximately 9:15 p.m. That is just south of County Road 800 North.
The crash caused Annis to lose control of the motorcycle and he was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Annis was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police. The injures he suffered are potentially life-threatening.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash.
