Indiana unemployment rate steady at 4.6 percent

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indiana’s jobless rate is holding steady. Also, Amazon has filed a patent for a “pay-by-selfie” system.

Indiana’s January unemployment rate stayed unchanged at 4.6 percent. The state has added 43,000 private-sector jobs so far in 2016. Last month, Indiana gained 4,700 leisure and hospitality jobs, 1,500 in financial activities and 1,200 in construction, according to the State Department of Workforce Development.

MasterCard is not the only company to take consumers’ love of self portraits and turn it into a way to make money. Amazon recently filed a patent for a so-called selfie pay system. According to Recode, the service, which is related to another patent Amazon already owns that allows for photo verification of a shopper, aims to make it safe for shoppers to buy things online.
