Fort Wayne among ‘Most Livable Cities’
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — The city of Fort Wayne is included in SmartAsset’s 2020 ranking of the “Most Livable Cities in the U.S.” The financial planning website analyzed 100 of the largest cities in the country and ranked the top 25 based on several metrics, including violent and property crime rates, unemployment, and housing costs.
Some of the other metrics used in the study include walkability and the housing cost-burden rate, meaning the percentage of households spending 30% or more of their income on housing.
Fort Wayne is tied for No. 11 on the list along with Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Allen County city is the only Hoosier community to make the list.
Arlington, Virginia tops the list, followed by Boise, Idaho; Lincoln, Nebraska and Gibert, Arizona tied for No. 3; and Plano, Texas.
