Funding available for nonprofits

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Grants are available from the CARES Act for nonprofits that offer humanities programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants range from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on organization size, and can only be used for general operating support.

Indiana Humanities says organizations who do not offer humanities programming, religious organizations, government agencies, K-12 schools and universities will be ineligible for this funding.

“Humanities organizations are vital cultural organizations at the heart of our communities,” said Keira Amstutz, president and CEO of Indiana Humanities. “We are grateful to the U.S. Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities for providing us with this opportunity to support these essential community anchors or institutions during this time of need. Our goal is to get these funds out across the state quickly and equitably, just as intended.”

The over $500,000 in grants will be administered by Indiana Humanities and the deadline to apply is May 8. Organizations receiving grants will be notified on May 22. More CARES Act funding from the National Endowment of Arts will be released for arts and cultural organizations, with more than $1 million to be available to Indiana institutions.
