INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis-based Thomas P. Miller & Associates has hired Scott Rudd as a strategic advisor. Rudd most recently served as director of broadband opportunities for the state of Indiana under Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch.

Rudd was the first person selected for his previous position and led the Office of Broadband Opportunities by helping establish the state’s first broadband strategy. A spokesperson for Crouch’s office says Rudd’s last day was Oct. 15.

“It was an honor to serve the State of Indiana and I look forward to furthering my mission to improve connectivity throughout Indiana and beyond with TPMA,” Rudd said in a news release. “Connectivity is a vital concern for many communities and I am grateful to be able to address Indiana’s broadband needs as well as areas around the country.”

TMPA says broadband connectivity has become a “crucial component” of economic development strategies for the communities and regions it serves throughout the country.

“For thirty-three years our firm has been focused on making the connection between workforce and economic development,” said TMPA founder Tom Miller. “Our broadband efforts are an additional step in providing the vital infrastructure for connectivity to promote economic growth and talent attraction across the country. Scott will strengthen those broadband efforts through his experience and expertise.”

When asked about plans to find Rudd’s successor, Crouch’s office said, “We are currently reviewing all of the broadband programs and organizational structure.”
