New plasma donation center opens in Jeffersonville
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — New Orleans-based Immunotek Bio Centers has opened its newest plasma donation center located in Jeffersonville. The company says the facility will be its 43rd U.S. location and second in Indiana.
ImmunoTek says it selected Jeffersonville after touring the city and seeing what it has to offer. The new facility will create up to 30 new jobs at the center itself.
“Plasma is used by pharmaceutical companies to develop plasma protein therapies and vaccines for a myriad of immune disorders,” said Jerome Parnell, ImmunoTek chief executive officer. “Plasma is also being used to fight against COVID-19 and recent research shows promise for plasma derived therapies to reduce or limit the effects from Alzheimer’s and dementia.”
Donors are paid for their plasma donation.
