Sports equipment company moving to Plainfield
PLAINFIELD, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — A New York-based sports equipment manufacturer is planning to relocate its headquarters to central Indiana. Certor Sports LLC says it will invest nearly $19 million to move operations to a facility in Plainfield and create 300 jobs.
Certor is leasing more than 200,000 square feet of space at the facility, located at 9400 Bradford Road. According to documents filed with the Indiana Economic Development Corp., the company is making the move in an effort to “accommodate demand and facilities growth.”
Certor Sports was established late last year by New York-based portfolio management firm Innovatus Capital Partners LLC. The company acquired a number of sports equipment brands from Kranos Corp. in Illinois, including Schutt, ProGear Shoulder Pads, Tucci Bats, Hollywood Bases and Adams USA.
The IEDC is offering Certor up to $5 million in incentives, including $3 million in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs. The remainder includes $1 million in Headquarters Relocation Tax Credits and $1 million in training grants.
