Vincennes University returning students in August
VINCENNES, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — Vincennes University has announced students will return to its campuses for in-person classes beginning in August. In-person instruction for the fall semester will end prior to Thanksgiving and spring semester will be delayed to protect students, faculty and staff from COVID-19. Start and end dates for the 2020-21 academic year remain unchanged, but the university will institute a pause in face-to-face instruction at mid-year.
“VU is doing everything we can to continue to provide our students with the highest quality academic and student experience while also doing our best to protect the health and safety of everyone in our community,” VU President Chuck Johnson said.
Students are slated to return August 17 with the final day of in-person instruction set for November 24. Remaining instruction, after Thanksgiving, will be online or remote through the final day of the semester on December 11.
The beginning of the 2021 spring semester will be postponed one week and the first two weeks of teaching will be online/remote. The first day of the spring semester is scheduled for January 19, with face-to-face teaching beginning on February 1. Final exams will be administered in-person with the final day of the semester planned for May 7.
Fall and spring breaks have been moved to accommodate the new schedule, with fall break set for Oct 12-13 to Nov 30-Dec. 1. There is no planned mid-semester spring break, but the mid-year break between semesters will be extended one week.
Residence halls are scheduled to reopen with reduced capacity and more extensive safety measures, but the final residence hall plan will be announced in July.
