IU football player suspended after arrest

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – An Indiana University football player was arrested, prompting his suspension from all team activity, university officials said.

IU defensive lineman Ralph Green III was arrested on preliminary charges of battery, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He’s accused of slapping a woman who refused to dance with him.

In a portable breath test, Green registered a .20 percent blood alcohol level.

Green bonded out of the Monroe County Jail Monday.

“We take this situation very seriously as we do all conduct-related issues, on or off the field, among our student-athletes,” IU officials said in a statement.

The university will take further action if necessary as the case moves on in the legal system.

Green is a sophomore who played in 11 games this most recent season. He’s originally from San Antonio, Texas.
