IU student stabbed early Sunday morning

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – A student at Indiana University in Bloomington was stabbed early Sunday morning.

According to police at IU Bloomington, the student was stabbed during an attempted robbery around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

The incident happened near the intersection of Law Lane and Union Street.

A series of messages about the incident were sent out over social media warning students and staff.

Police go on to say that the student was stabbed once in the lower abdomen.  The victim transported to the hospital and the injuries are non-life threatening.

Officials have since given the all clear, saying there is no immediate threat.

The suspect have been described as a six foot, middle-aged African-American male with a beard. He was wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants at the time of the stabbing.

However, police say that the investigation in to the incident is ongoing.
