Kokomo police increasing patrols after fight during party
KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) — The Kokomo Police Department says an event promoted as an “Instagram party” is now under investigation after gunshots were fired near a crowd of more than 200 people.
Police said they couldn’t find a victim, but they did find shell casings in the parking lot of the venue formally known as Center Stage Bar and Grill on Plate Street.
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office and KPD responded around 2:30 am after a fight broke out between 3 girls. That’s close to the same time on Sunday when 911 was dialed by someone inside.
Three teens were arrested; a 14-year-old and two 15-year-olds. All three face charges of disorderly conduct.
“I was called in the middle of the night to come and pick up my kid. That scared me. I didn’t know what was going on until I showed up to the station,” Donna Jol said.
Kokomo police said more patrols will be added for the group’s next party Dec. 12.
“The public’s safety is our number one priority. We will be reaching out to the owner of the building to let him know our concerns,” said Major Seldon, public information officer with the Kokomo Police Department.
We reached out to the building owner, Danny Dumoulin, but he declined to comment. The event promoter also declined to comment.
