Local coffee shop using tips to help others

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The coffee is brewing, and the muffins are ready.

Inside Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company, baristas work hard to serve their customers.

When the transcation is done, the statisfied patron may leave a tip.

However, at Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company the tips don’t go to the workers. They instead go to nonprofit groups.

“We want a place for the community. One of the ways we could do that is support non-for-profits that are in the area,” said Doug Litsey with Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company. “We try to pay our employees well, so they don’t care as much.”

The tips rasied usually range from $1,000-$1,500 per month.
