American Heart Association’s ‘Heart Walk’ goes virtual

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The American Heart Association’s “Heart Walk” went virtual this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that’s not stopping the many people who are walking and running Saturday to help the organization.

This year’s event is a digital experience on the Indianapolis American Heart Association’s Facebook page. Runners and walkers are encouraged to share photos during the event by using the hashtag #IndyHeartWalk.

Participants are working to raise $850,000 to help fund research, education and community programs.

The American Heart Association says heart disease is the number one leading cause of death.
