Butler Blue IV uses adorable face to welcome students virtually

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Butler University is taking its popular Butler Bound deliveries virtually amid pandemic concerns.

The program surprises students with news of their acceptance by a visit from Butler’s famous mascot, Butler Blue.

With the move to virtual visits, the element of surprise is lost, but the university says they still wanted a way to visit with students, answer questions and uplift spirits.

Butler Blue IV and handler Evan Krauss have done 10 Butler Bound visits so far and Krauss says it has been a highlight in the team’s day while working from home.

These virtual visits are the first for Blue IV as he trains to take over as the university’s mascot full-time this fall.

News 8 joined in on a recent virtual visit with newly accepted student Alex Gilmore from McHenry, IL.
