INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person is dead after a four-vehicle crash near the intersection of East 38th Street and North Keystone Avenue Wednesday evening.

Police say an officer initiated a traffic stop for a traffic infraction just before 6 p.m. in the 2300 or 2400 block of East 38th Street.

The vehicle fled from the officer — who did not pursue — and traveled westbound to the intersection of 38th and Keystone, where it struck multiple vehicles.

Four vehicles were ultimately involved in the crash, according to police. The driver and sole occupant of one vehicle was pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle were transported to an area hospital with the driver in critical condition.

No information was provided about the identity of anyone involved in the crash.
