INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each and every week WISH-TV highlights a local company together with our partners at Indiana Grown.

Chris Walczak with BooYah! Shrubs stopped by the Daybreak studios Saturday to talk more about the business. BooYah! Shrubs specializes in vinegars, shrubs, spritzers and syrups.

“We started with my sister creating an apple cider vinegar concoction called a shrub, which is fruit-infused, a little bit of sugar to cut the acidity and then you’ll add spices and different teas to make a flavor out of it,” said Walczak. “You can add that to drinks or use it as a marinade, it’s a health drink.”

Shagbark Hickory syrup is another popular BooYah! Shrubs product.

“The recipe calls for harvesting shagbark from a hickory tree,” said Walczak.

The shagbark naturally sheds from the trees and is then processed and flavors are extracted from the bark.

“So we have the secret recipe,” he said.
