Indy cleanup events set ahead of the College Football Playoff

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — College’s biggest game is coming to Lucas Oil Stadium on Jan. 10, 2022: the College Football Playoff National Championship. Downtown Indy Inc. wants your help making the city sparkle ahead of the crowds visiting the city.

WISH-TV is the media partner of the Indianapolis Host Committee, which is working with several partners to ensure Indy spaces are in top shape for fans.

Downtown Indy Inc. is hosting two cleanup events in the Mile Square. On Friday, Oct. 22, volunteers will focus on mulching flowerbeds and landscaping. Then, on Friday, Oct. 29, volunteers will take paint brushes to some of the railings and landscaping structures downtown.

Organizers tell WISH-TV they expect around 40 people to come to the first event Friday and say more are welcome to join them. Check-in opens at 8:30 a.m. on the south side of Monument Circle. The cleaning begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. They’ll have all the shovels, gloves, buckets, trash bags and other items for use. You are advised to wear a mask and social distance.

Already on the championship’s website, there’s tourism information about Indianapolis stadiums, parks, walkability, restaurants and bars.
