Inmate’s death at Johnson County Jail under investigation

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – An inmate died at the Johnson County Jail Monday morning, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said that an on-duty correctional officer, just after 1 a.m., spotted an unconscious inmate who was in a cell by himself.

CPR was performed on the inmate by correctional and jail medical staff. Emergency medical personnel were also called to the jail.

However, despite the efforts, the inmate, identified as Michael Reynolds, 33, was pronounced dead at the jail.

Deputies said Reynolds has been in the jail since Nov. 29, 2020.

No foul play is suspected at this time.

The death is under investigation.
