INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man and a woman died in a crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck Monday evening in Johnson County.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash at State Road 135 and State Road 44 near Bargersville at around 7:30 p.m. and located two people with fatal injuries.

The victims were identified Tuesday as 56-year-old Michael Merriman and 46-year-old Melissa Fidler, both of Indianapolis. Merriman was driving the motorcycle and Fidler was the passenger.

The driver of the pickup truck told police he was in the intersection, attempting to turn south onto State Road 135, when the motorcycle ran the red light and struck his driver’s side door.

Witnesses gave investigators the same account of what happened, according to a police report obtained by News 8.

Toxicology and autopsy results are pending.
