Visitation, funeral, procession route for Marion County Deputy John Durm
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The procession route is set for the funeral of Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy John Durm, who died Monday after being attacked by an inmate at the Criminal Justice Center.
Durm, 61, will be laid to rest Monday at Crown Hill Cemetery following a memorial service at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
After the 11 a.m. service, the funeral procession will head east to the Criminal Justice Center for a final 10-42 call marking the end of Durm’s duty. From there, the procession will head west to Illinois Street and then north to Crown Hill Cemetery.
The inmate accused of attacking Durm, identified as 34-year-old Orlando Mitchell, is charged with murder, robbery, and escape. The Marion County prosecutor says he will seek the death penalty.

- Visitation: 2-7 p.m. Sunday, Scottish Rite Cathedral, 650 N. Meridian St.
- Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 125 S Pennsylvania St.
Those interested in attending Monday’s service at Gainbridge Fieldhouse are encouraged to arrive early.
