Project Prom providing free formal wear for prom season

FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) – Johnson County Public Library is helping teens shop for formal wear ahead of prom season during its annual Project Prom pop-up event.

High school students can take home donated dresses, suits, shoes and accessories — free of charge — at the Franklin Branch on Saturday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 11 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

There have been over 800 attendees since the pop-up began in 2013 and nearly 200 teens found formal wear to take home in 2018, according to event staff.

It is an outdoor event and masks will be required for health and safety reasons. Teens will be allowed to browse in small groups to ensure social distancing.
