Major traffic woes expected this weekend on north, south side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Drivers in Marion County will need to plan for extra travel time this weekend as crews work on closing and shifting several lanes on the north and south side of the city.
Crews will close the northbound lanes at Meridian and 106th street for one week on Saturday. During the closure crews will complete pavement work.
This closure will affect northbound Meridian Street access to 106th Street. Eastbound and westbound Interstate 465 access to northbound U.S. 31 and 106th Street will remain available via freeway ramps.
Also happening this weekend, lanes will be closed on I-65 as part of an ongoing construction project. INDOT will close the three left lanes of I-65 southbound between I-465 and the Southport Road exit.
The closure starts at 9 p.m. on Friday and goes until 6 a.m. Monday. One right lane and the exit ramp will be open.
On Monday, more work begins along Meridian Street near 96th Street. At 7 p.m. crews will shift traffic on northbound Meridian, just south of 96 Street.
Drivers traveling northbound will used the right two lanes of the road to get to I-465 east and west. If you are continuing on U.S. 31 you will remain in the shifted northbound lanes.
