Male victim dead after north side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A male gunshot victim has died after a shooting on the city’s north side. 

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched about 8 p.m. Monday to the 700 block of East 86th Street in response to a caller stating someone had been shot. That’s near North College Avenue. 

The Marion County Coroner’s Officer has identified the victim as 16-year-old Juwan-Howard Smith.

When officers arrived, they learned a Hamilton County medic who was passing by found Smith suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and took him to St. Vincent Indianapolis hospital, where he died.  

A crime scene was later located about a half-mile north, in the 900 block of Lake Nora Court South in an apartment complex.
