Man dismissed on OWI charges, given BMV citation instead

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Local auto group president was dismissed on all charges in a November drunk driving incident, according to Indiana Criminal Courts.

Indiana court documents state that Robert Butler,44, of Fishers, faced a serious felony charge of causing serious injury while operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and another felony charge of causing serious injury while operating a motor vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Level higher than .08%.

WISH-TV reported that on November 29, 2014, Butler hit Latin McKinney, 25, who was on the side of I-465 trying to jump start his car with his sister. McKinney was transported to the hospital shortly afterwards with serious injuries.

The case was dismissed on March 17, according to court documents.

As of Tuesday, those documents state that Butler was directed to the BMV for a citation in lieu of the dismissed charges.
