Man jumps from roof during drug raid

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man jumped from the roof of a home while police executed a search warrant Wednesday evening, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Officers served a warrant related to narcotics at an apartment in the 600 block of Anderson Avenue around 7 p.m., according to FWPD Sgt. Mark Brooks.

Brooks said as officers knocked on the door and announced their presence a man jumped approximately 15 feet off of a roof and ran off. Brooks said the man, Cedric Edwards, was eventually confronted by officers and a K-9 officer who were behind the house. Edwards was taken to a hospital after complaining of pain following the jump.

Edwards was incarcerated in the Allen County Jail on multiple drug-related charges, including: possession of synthetic marijuana and visiting a common nuisance. He was also being held on two separate arrest warrants for violation of drug court. He was also charged with resisting law enforcement.

Another person, Amanda Gross, was charged with maintaining a common nuisance and possession of synthetic marijuana.

The incident is under investigation.
