Officers, firefighters competing in contest to support ‘Susan Jordan Memorial Fund’

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – Lawrence police officers and firefighters will be competing Friday night to support the Susan Jordan Memorial Fund.

Four police officers and four firefighters will be eating a dozen chicken wings in a relay-style event. The chiefs of both departments will then anchor the relay.

The proceeds from the events will go to a memorial fund created for Susan Jordan, the Amy Beverland Elementary School principal who was killed in January when a bus jumped over the curb as school was letting out.

Her family created the fund a few days after she died.

The chicken wing contest will be held at the Sterett Center in Lawrence at 6 p.m.
