One arrested in Muncie stabbing death
MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Muncie said Tuesday morning they were investigating a death on the city’s west side.
Officers arrested Michael Joe Williamson, 37, for the murder of Bilal “Billy” Lipscomb, 38.
The killing happened in the 600 block of West Jackson Street. Officers with the Muncie Police Department said Williamson called 911 before 8:00 a.m.
MPD said while being interviewed, Williamson said he was tired of Lipscomb always threatening to kill him. He told investigators on Tuesday morning he and Lipscomb got into an argument. Police said Williamson told officers Lipscomb got out of his chair, got in Williamson’s face, and then returned to his chair.
Williamson stated he was scared of Lipscomb and saw there was a knife on the table. Police said Williamson said he got up, grabbed the knife, walked over to Lipscomb who was “chilling in the green chair”, and stabbed him once in the chest. Police said Williamson then went to Village Pantry and called 911.
Neighbors said Williamson has only lived in the home for a few months. Those who knew Williamson said they were shocked to hear what Williamson is accused of doing.
“I’ve known him for like 19 years and he’s never been violent. I’ve never seen this guy violent in school, outside of school. I’ve seen people hit him and call him names and he would just turn the cheek and walk away,” said Joshua Taylor.
“He ain’t never been violent. I mean, he was a nice guy,” said Shane Weatherly.
Williamson was placed under arrest at 10:52 a.m.
