Over 100 pounds of marijuana confiscated following I-70 traffic stop
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two men are in custody after officials said they were transporting over 100 pounds of marijuana Tuesday morning.
It happened around 11 a.m. when a trooper with Indiana State Police stopped a speeding minivan along I-70 near the 95.2 mile marker.
After speaking with the driver, the trooper became suspicious of the vehicle and began to smell a strong odor of marijuana from within the van.
Upon further investigation, the trooper was able to find several different containers and bags in the van filled with marijuana. The estimated weight of the marijuana found was over 120 pounds.
The driver of the van, 43-year-old Tong Pan and the passenger 52-year-old Liandi Zhang were both taken into custody for dealing and possession of marijuana.
The two men stated they were coming from California and headed to Virginia.
