Person detained after 3 people injured in downtown shooting

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story stated that the three people were injured in separate shootings, but IMPD confirmed all three were injured in the same shooting.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Three people were injured in a downtown shooting early Saturday morning, police say.

Around 3 a.m. Saturday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of a person at the 60 block of East Pearl Street outside of the pizzeria in downtown Indianapolis. Investigators found two people with gunshot wounds.

Additionally, around 3:23 a.m., police located a third person with gunshot wounds in the 200 block of South Meridian Street outside of a nightclub in downtown Indianapolis.

The three people shot were taken to the hospital, and are in stable condition as of Saturday morning.

Officers determined that the shooting did not occur inside any businesses.

Investigators have detained one suspect, but investigators are working to determine their role in the shootings.
