Peru police looking for suspect who beat dog to death

PERU, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Peru are looking for a man accused of killing a dog on Monday.

A warrant was issued for 24-year-old Corbin Jones on charges of killing a domestic animal. Police received a call that a man was beating a dog in the 450 block of East Main Street.

The caller went up to Jones and took the dog. When police arrived the noticed bruising and blood on the dog. The dog was also having trouble breathing. The caller told police he noticed Jones kicking the dog and hitting it with his hands.

Police located the owner and they took the dog to an emergency vet clinic in Fort Wayne. About 20 minutes later officers got word that the dog had died on the way.

The dog was examined in Fort Wayne and several injuries were sustained during the beating.
