PETA plans bloody bird flu billboard in Indiana
DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – An avian flu outbreak at a southern Indiana turkey farm is prompting a colorful billboard from PETA.
PETA announced Thursday plans to place the billboard in the same county where H7N8 bird flu was found in hundreds of turkeys, leading to hundreds of thousands of birds being euthanized.
The billboard will have chickens hanging upside down with “bird flu” written in blood. There’s a caption reading, “The writing is on the wall. Go vegan.”
Although PETA officials point out people will “never catch the flu from tofu,” health officials said this latest strain of bird flu poses no food safety risk and “very low” risk to humans.
It’s unclear where in Dubois County PETA plans to place the billboard.
