Pie Five Pizza Co. downtown location closes

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A design-your-own pizza restaurant that opened just over two years ago at a downtown corner has closed.

Jami Zimmerman, a spokeswoman, said owner Carl Dissett closed the Pie Five Pizza Co. location at 48 E. Washington St. on Sunday.

“The location just wasn’t a fit for the food,” Zimmerman said. “I just don’t think it took off the way he thought it would.”

Dissett, who lives in Zionsville, will keep the Zionsville Pie Five open, Zimmerman said. He also owns another Pie Five in the Des Moines, Iowa, area.

The restaurant opened downtown in August 2015, keeping the oddly shaped, iconic sign of the former Roslyn Bakery that once sold goods there.
