Police make quick arrest after fatal stabbing

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Homicide detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say they made a quick arrest after a domestic situation led to a fatal stabbing.

Police said on June 21 shortly after 11 p.m., IMPD officers were sent to the 7100 block of Warrior Trail, where they found 30-year-old Eric Bonds suffering from multiple stab wounds. Bonds was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they found a large amount of blood throughout the home and signs of physical altercation. They found 44-year-old Gregory Smith inside the home and was detained until homicide detectives arrived.

Detectives said they believe the two men were arguing inside the home, which led to the stabbing. Detectives arrested Smith for his involvement in the death of Bonds.

Smith was preliminary arrested for one count of murder.
