Possible police impersonator pulling people over in Bartholomew County

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The sheriff of Bartholomew County used social media on Wednesday to alert the public that there may be a police impersonator on the loose.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers wrote a Facebook post describing the vehicle as a black Dodge Charger that had red and blue lights in the front window.

When the driver was pulled over, the driver noticed that the police officer was not wearing a badge. When the driver asked to see the police officer for identification, the suspected impersonator refused to provide any identification.

The suspect tried to open the car door, but the driver drove away. The suspect did not attempt to follow the man.

Police want citizens to remember that official police officers will always provide identification.

Officials are asking that if anyone has any information about this incident, that they call police immediately.
