Previewing new sessions of Indiana General Assembly, Congress

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It’s back to work for both state lawmakers and members of Congress, as both begin new sessions on Thursday.

Adbul-Hakim Shabazz, the publisher of IndyPolitics.org and a WIBC contributor, and Lara Beck, who worked for both Bart Peterson and former Indiana First Lady Maggie Kernan, stopped by Daybreak.

They previewed the upcoming session of the Indiana General Assembly as well as the incoming Congress.

They talked about the government shutdown, Indiana’s budget, teacher pay and hate crime legislation.

News 8’s Joe Melillo was also at the Indiana Statehouse, taking a look at the upcoming session and some of the issues likely to come up during the newest session.
